Career opportunities
Graduates with a master’s degree in Environmental Sustainability and Education will be able to carry out:
1) activities for recording the natural heritage and designing plans for the monitoring, impact assessment, restoration, management and conservation of the natural or semi-natural environment; drafting of thematic (biological or abiological) maps;
2) organisation and management of science museums, aquariums, botanical gardens and nature parks;
3) activities related to nature and environmental education, such as the production of teaching materials, also with multimedia support for schools, universities, nature museums, parks, aquariums and botanical gardens, the design and management of nature itineraries, and the dissemination of environmental themes and nature knowledge.
The main job opportunities are:
- researcher in the field of natural and environmental sciences, in particular for applied investigations and integrated multidisciplinary analyses (e.g. researcher in university institutes or other research organisations, employee working on research and innovation activities in companies);
- self-employment or employee in institutions (technical offices of local administrations; public and private companies engaged in the environmental protection, agricultural-forestry and industrial-production sectors; management bodies and other bodies connected to protected areas, such as nature reserves and nature parks), designing and carrying out investigations on natural systems, with regard to their composition, structure and ongoing processes, or on specific abiotic or biotic components of ecosystems, also as part of land-use planning initiatives and impact assessment of human activities;
- teacher in I and II grade secondary schools (Italian Pres. Decree 19/2016 and Italian Ministerial Decree 259/2017).
