Master's degree in Environmental Sustainability and Education

The Master's Degree Programme in Environmental Sustainability and Education belongs to the LM-60 class of master's degrees and is housed within the Department of Biology, DiBIO (School of Science).

The programme provides advanced training to understand and address the main challenges related to environmental sustainability. It trains graduates capable of applying scientific knowledge to environmental management and protection, and of effectively communicating environmental topics to diverse audiences in educational, outreach, and professional contexts.

The study path integrates lectures, laboratory and field activities, and innovative teaching methods, with particular attention to experimental methods and techniques and direct field experience, promoting the practical application of acquired knowledge.

The programme includes a first set of common courses, taught in English, which provide in-depth preparation on integrated environmental analysis and on the interactions between its living and non-living components. Subsequently, students can choose between two distinct educational pathways, designed to meet different interests and professional goals:

• Sustainable Environment, taught in English, focused on the study of environmental monitoring and management. This pathway explores modern techniques for faunal, floristic, geological, and geomorphological surveying, including remote sensing methodologies, providing operational skills for the analysis and management of environmental systems.

• Teaching and Communication, taught in Italian, dedicated to scientific communication and teaching in the natural sciences field. This pathway is designed for those intending to work in environmental education and science outreach sectors, with particular attention to communicating sustainability-related topics.
